Gainesville
Gainesville is an expanding community in the northwest section of Prince William County.
The current population of Gainesville is just under 20,000. This community was originally a changing point for horses on the stagecoach line on the Fauquier & Alexandria Turnpike. When the railroad eventually came through this area, it became a shipping point for grain, timber, and cattle. Now, Gainesville is an active community with many neighborhoods as well as great shops and restaurants.
Gainesville has many beautiful neighborhoods including the gated community of Lake Manassas which has a Robert Trent Jones golf course, Wentworth Green, Broad Run Oaks, Somerset, Virginia Oaks, Saranac, Glenkirk Estates, Piedmont (gated country club community), Heritage Hunt (a gated, over 55, golf course community), and many more! These communities have a nice mix of everything from condos and townhouses to all different sizes of detached homes.Gainesville has become a shopping point for the western side of Prince William County with six major shopping centers including both the Virginia Gateway and the Wegmans’ Shopping Center. I66 goes right through Gainesville along with Rt 29 and Rt 15 allowing easy access to areas to the east, west, north, and south. Gainesville is an ideal location for commuters looking to head in almost any direction. If you’re looking for a small community with great shopping and restaurants and easy access to all the Northern Virginia has to offer, Gainesville might be a great fit for you.
