Bristow

Bristow is a fast growing community with just over 30,000 residents on the western side of Prince William County in Northern Virginia.

The main roads through Bristow are Linton Hall and Sudley Manor.  This area was originally part of the Linton’s Ford Plantation.  Sarah Linton, a member of the Linton family, became a Benedictine nun in 1894 and eventually donated land to the Catholic church to establish a school for poor children.  The Linton Hall Military School for boys was founded on this land in 1922.  In 1989, this school ended its military affiliation and became a coeducational private school known today as the Linton Hall School.  The Linton family (with the exception of Sarah) is buried in the Linton Family Cemetery in the Braemar Community.

Bristow is known for its master planned communities, in particular Braemar and Victory Lakes.  These communities have both detached homes and townhomes and offer a variety of amenities such as community pools, clubhouses, playgrounds, tennis courts, walking trails, and so much more.  There are many other smaller communities in Bristow as well including Saybrooke, Sheffield Manor, Lanier Farms, Foxborough, New Bristow Village, and Avendale.  Bristow is also home to the Bristoe Station Battlefield, Jiffy Lube Live (outdoor concert arena), and the nearby Brentsville Courthouse Historic Center.

Residents of Bristow have many different commuting options for getting into the DC area.  For those who opt to drive, I66 is nearby, but for anyone who prefers public transportation, the Virginia Railway Express commuter train is a great option along with the OmniRide express bus system.  If you’re looking for an active community lifestyle with the option to head either towards Washington, DC (about 30 miles away) or towards the more rural parts of Virginia, Bristow may be a great option for you.
